The UN humanitarian coordinator for Ukraine said “dismayed” by the deadly strike left at least 51 dead on Thursday, October 5, in the Ukrainian village of Groza, in eastern Ukraine. “The images coming from this locality, where just over 300 people live, are absolutely horrifying”wrote Denise Brown in a statement. Groza grocery store and cafe affected. The attack took place around 1:15 p.m. (local time), hitting a food store and a cafe, regional governor Oleg Synegoubov said on Telegram. “There were residents in a store, and residents in the cafe [voisin] who were also gathered for a ceremony in memory of a deceased villager”according to Interior Minister Igor Klymenko.

More than 26,000 Ukrainians missing since the start of the conflict. “Among them, 11,000 are civilians and around 15,000 are military”announced a Deputy Minister of the Interior, Leonid Tymchenko, on national television. This provisional assessment only concerns Ukrainians whose data could be “officially verified”adds the minister’s spokesperson. “This figure could still increase” as the checks continue.

Slovakia freezes its decisions on military aid to kyiv. At the sfollowing the electoral success of parties opposed to aid to neighboring Ukraine, Bratislava has decided to freeze its decisions on military support for kyiv pending the new government, the presidency announced.

The governor of Russia’s Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, on Thursday accused the Ukrainian army of dropping cluster munitions on the town of Rylsk. “A woman was injured by shrapnel, she was hospitalized”, the governor wrote on Telegram. The use of these weapons, delivered by the United States, is very controversial, because the charges they disperse can cause many collateral civilian victims.
