They will be able to gather in the middle of Paris. The summary judge suspended, Friday December 1, “the police chief’s ban” concerning the ultra-right gathering planned at Place du Panthéon (5th arrondissement) for Thomas, killed during a ball in Crépol (Drôme) This gathering must begin around 7 p.m. and end at 9:15 p.m., specifies the administrative court in the press release which details its decision.

In its press release, the Paris administrative court considers that “the ban imposed, given its disproportionate nature, constitutes a serious and manifestly illegal attack on the freedom of demonstration”. The court recalls that “the sole circumstance that an announced event is likely to be the occasion of major disturbances to public order (…) is not such as to justify in all circumstances a general ban on demonstrations”. The summary judge adds that the number of demonstrators expected is “rated at a maximum of 1,000” people and one “order service of 40 to 50 people” is planned, just as “the mobilization of at least 250 members of the police, possible surveillance by drone”.

Laurent Nunez, Paris police prefect, announced Wednesday that he would “obviously” ban this gathering, launched by Les Natifs, a small group heir to Génération Identitaire, dissolved in March 2021. “In this type of gathering, we have comments made that incite hatred and violence”had justified the Paris police prefect.
