Doctor Jérôme Marty, president of the union French Union for Free Medicine (UFML-S), denounced, Thursday April 4, on France Inter the “sabotage” by the government of conventional negotiations with Health Insurance. Two unions of liberal doctors, Avenir Spé Le Bloc and the UFML-S, announced Thursday that they were suspending their participation in these negotiations to support private clinics which denounce the weakness of the price increase granted to them for 2024.

The announced increase is only 0.3% compared to 4.3% for the public hospital. The Federation of Private Hospitalization calls for a “total strike” from June 3. For his part, Jérôme Marty announces a “hard move”. “By taking the unilateral decision, without consultation, to give private healthcare establishments, private hospitals and private clinics an increase of only 0.3%, it is impossible to negotiate under these conditions”said Jérôme Marty.

“80% of outpatient surgery done by private clinics”

“These people are sabotaging both the negotiations, but, more seriously, sabotaging the French health system because the activity of private clinics cannot be carried out by the public hospital,” he estimated. “More than 80% of outpatient surgery, for example, is done by private clinics. he pointed out.

After these defections, Health Insurance announced Thursday morning the postponement of the price negotiation session with the unions of private doctors. “We are entering a tough movement, total and global closure of private establishments from June 3”warned Jérôme Marty.
