The two people implicated in the attack on Prisca Thevenot, her deputy and two activists in Meudon on Wednesday July 3 were indicted this Friday July 5, in particular for “violence committed against an elected official without total incapacity for work” concerning the government spokesperson, the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office said in a press release.

The adult suspect was placed in pre-trial detention and the minor under judicial supervision with an obligation to be placed in a closed educational center. The prosecution specifies that for the adult, the aggravating circumstance of violence committed by an adult with the help of a minor is retained.

In detail, the two suspects are also indicted for “group violence without incapacity” regarding the uninjured activist, for “violence committed against an elected official and with a weapon resulting in total incapacity for work of less than eight days” and for “serious damage” concerning Prisca Thevenot’s substitute, Virginie Lanlo. Finally, for “group violence, with a weapon, by an adult acting with the help of a minor”for the activist suffering from a total incapacity for work of more than eight days.

The main suspect, aged 20, has already been convicted twice according to his criminal record. Once for drug trafficking “which justifies the qualification of repeat offense in light of the penalty incurred for this offense”. The other for facts of “driving without a license and receiving stolen goods”The minor is 17 years old. He has been tried twice for group theft and carrying a weapon and “was subject to a judicial educational measure”adds the prosecution.

Investigations are continuing as part of the judicial inquiry opened this Friday to clarify the implications of the two accused but also to identify other people likely to have participated in this violence. “and to establish the motivations of the suspected persons”. As part of the investigation, four people were taken into custody. Two were released this Friday morning in the absence of sufficient charges brought against them at this stage.

On Wednesday in Meudon (Hauts-de-Seine), Prisca Thevenot, her deputy substitute and two activists were attacked by a group of individuals during a postering operation in view of the early legislative elections. Four complaints had been filed.
