The Paris Assize Court sentenced two Egyptians, Mahmoud Kadri and Karim Ibrahim, to 22 years in prison on Saturday January 29 for the murder in 2018 in the Bois de Boulogne of Vanesa Campos, an undocumented transgender sex worker.

The sentences pronounced after more than nine hours of deliberation go beyond the requisitions of the prosecution, which had requested Thursday 20 years of imprisonment against Mahmoud Kadri and 15 years against Karim Ibrahim.

Vanesa Campos, a 36-year-old Peruvian, was shot dead on the night of August 16 to 17, 2018 during a punitive expedition, in a remote and dark place in the Bois de Boulogne where she had been practicing for two years. .

On the evening of the events, she found herself “naked, defenseless, faced with the arrival (of a) pack”, a group of at least a dozen young men, armed and “galvanized by a feeling of omnipotence”, underlined the Advocate General.

This expedition was for “regain control of the territory by putting an end to the resistance” of South American trans prostitutes, who had hired “protectors” faced with the actions of a band of thieves who had been robbing their customers for several years.
