The Tuque | Major telephone and Internet outage: an act of vandalism in question

Nearly 5,000 Télébec customers in the La Tuque sector had a very bad surprise when they woke up on Saturday, when a major telephone and Internet outage affected them. However, it is not the heavy rains or the wind that would be in question, but rather an act of vandalism on the Bell network’s optical fiber which occurred during the night from Friday to Saturday in the Grand-Mère sector, in Shawinigan.

“Customers in La Tuque and the surrounding area may currently experience interruptions in telephone and Internet services following acts of vandalism on the Télébec network during the night. Our teams are on site to restore services as quickly as possible and we are working with local authorities to investigate the events, ”said Éliane Légaré, public relations manager at Bell, by email on Saturday morning.
