The truth: there are not 52,000 parents waiting for a place in CPE, but rather 34,000

Passing through Beauce yesterday, Éric Duhaime mentioned during an interview with Cool 103.5 that “52,000 parents are waiting for a place in CPE”.

Mr. Duhaime should consult L’Heure Juste more regularly, since Paul St-Pierre Plamondon made the same assertion last week at TVA’s Face-à-Face.

FACTS

Both heads are not up to date.

On May 31, the Ministère de la Famille estimated that approximately 34,000 toddlers needed a place in daycare.

Previously, the figure provided by the ministry was 50,000, but this included children who did not immediately need a place, for example those whose parents were still on parental leave.
