The truth about Chinese interference

Since these are Canadian voters of Chinese origin who were allegedly influenced by information transmitted by various means by the Chinese government, would it not be simpler to ask these voters if they consider that they were really influenced and by what means rather than making a public inquiry involving the secret services?

Conducting a constituency survey of these voters seems like a natural first step to me. If these voters consider that they have not been influenced, what more will the secret services be able to tell us about the results of the elections in these constituencies?
