In heavy silence, the inhabitants of this Norman village pay tribute to Lisa, 3 years old, who died last Sunday of a cardiac arrest. The little girl died after being beaten by her mother and stepfather. Lisa’s mother and stepfather were indicted for murder of a minor and placed in pre-trial detention. The couple admitted to hitting the little girl for a year. Neighbors admitted to hearing screams, but never reported it, either to the gendarmerie or to social services. Only a friend of the couple had contacted 119, the number for children in danger, a call that went unanswered.

Faced with these shortcomings, the municipality opened an administrative investigation. “I am calling this morning on the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, all national and local authorities, to give us the means to act to better protect our children and to better fight against intra-violence. family problems which sometimes lead to extreme tragedies”, declared Jérôme Pasco, mayor of Conches-en-Ouche (Eure). Lisa’s older brother, aged 6, was also being beaten. He was placed with child welfare.
