The triathlon has been postponed, the French blind football team enters the fray… Follow the fourth day of events with us

All of the Paralympic Games paratriathlon events, which were due to take place this Sunday, September 1, have been postponed by one day due to a “deterioration of the water quality of the Seine” due to the weather, the organizers announced overnight. The eleven events scheduled on the program, which include a swimming section in the Parisian river as during the Olympic Games, should be held on Monday, while the rain has returned to the capital. Badminton, athletics, archery… S16 disciplines on the day’s program. In doubles, badminton players in certain categories will seek the first medals. In singles, players will compete in the quarter-finals or semi-finals, including Tokyo Paralympic champion Lucas Mazur (SL4). Find today’s program here.

New medals in track cycling? At the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome, the Bleues will aim for a double in the 3,000m individual pursuit (C5). The reigning double world champion in this distance, Heïdi Gaugain, who is taking part in her first Games, is one of the favourites (qualifying at 12:24, final at 15:22). She will have as a tough opponent her compatriot Marie Patouillet, bronze medallist in Tokyo in this event and silver medalist in the time trial (500 m) on Thursday.

The Blues of blind football enter the competition. Having come last in the Olympic tournament three years ago in Tokyo, Toussaint Akpweh’s men are this time aiming for a place on the podium. To achieve this goal, France will face China (which it faces on Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m.), Brazil and Turkey in group matches. Other team sports teams are continuing their group stages, including France-Japan (7 p.m.) in women’s goalball, and France-United States in women’s sitting volleyball (8 p.m.).

A harvest of medals on Saturday. Imperial, the cyclist Dorian Foulon retained his Paralympic title in the 4,000 m individual pursuit (category C5). Track cycling also allowed two other medals to be collected, bronze this time, thanks to Alexandre Léauté in the 1,000 m time trial (category C1-3) and Gatien Le Rousseau in the 4,000 m individual pursuit (category C4). Also worth noting are two bronze medals in table tennis, and the Portal brothers’ double in the 400m freestyle (silver for Alex, bronze for Kylian).
