the trial is adjourned to a later date due to covid

In the case of the assassination of Montferriez-sur-Lez, the hearing was to resume at 1:45 p.m. this Thursday at the assizes of Hérault. At 2:15 p.m., the president of the court appeared, crestfallen, to explain that she was obliged to postpone the trial to a later date because one of the two assessors had tested positive for covid.

The verdict was to be delivered tomorrow Friday.

“I understand the distress of the family of the victim and of the accused Patrick Goussé, said the president, believe me that the court itself is deeply sorry for what is happening”. The president explained that she would do everything to ensure that the trial was held as quickly as possible.

The trial will then have to start from scratch.

Patrick Goussé was tried at the assizes of the Hérault for the assassination of Pascal Bilger in April 2018 in Montferrier-sur-Lez, near Montpellier. The victim, who received 23 stab wounds in the middle of the night and in his sleep, was the ex-husband of the defendant’s partner.
