In 2024, the aperitif products industry will exceed 3 billion euros. Focus on the growing snacking market.
The French are increasingly turning to ready-to-eat products: over the last 12 months, sales of savory aperitif products represented 3.2 billion euros, almost twice as much as the egg market (1, 8 billion) or pasta (1.1 billion).
When it was launched in 2020, La Chips Française sold 300,000 packets. Four years later, it should sell 800,000. “Since February, we have doubled our production capacity“, says the co-founder of the brand, André Vanlerberghe. His chips are made from local potatoes, which pleases customers.
To grow, the brand is now expanding its range, with new flavors or small packages, better suited to snacking. In the snack section of supermarkets, customers are delighted to find inexpensive products. A Carrefour store also saw a double-digit acceleration in sales. “Today you have salads, burgers, hot dogs, individual yogurts, chips and drinks“, lists Stéfen Bompais, the group’s director of customer communications.
Still growing, the snacking market today exceeds 18 billion euros.
