All crowned with his victory at the finish in front of Le Havre Charlie Dalin in the Vendée Globe Yannick Bestaven leaves aboard his Maître Coq IV for the 15th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre. Winner of the Transat twice (2011 and 2015) in the smaller Class 40 category, the Rochelais does not feel satisfied at all: “We can still try to win all the other races. It will be quite a challenge. On the Jacques Vabre it won’t be easy because there are some very good boats, maybe even a little more efficient than ours. Our first passion is being at sea, so going back to sea, racing with all these beautiful projects, beautiful boats around us is always a good time. And I am going to get my feet back on the boat, I’m happy “.
To get my feet back on the boat, I’m happy. Yannick Bestaven
For this double-handed race, Yannick Bestaven chose Jean-Marie Dauris as co-skipper this summer. The technical and sports director of the Maître Coq team almost immediately replaced Roland Jourdain, who suffered from a herniated disc. This will be Jean-Marie Dauris’ first Transat Jacques Vabre, but Yannick Bestaven will be able to rely on the solid experience and the racing record of his sidekick.
