The tramway benefits the public and tourism

The opinion of readers of Duty brings fresh air to an environment that is overpoliticized and stingy with expert opinions. Quebec City, like other cities victimized by the automobile, will not be able to accommodate increased traffic and parking indefinitely. We also realize, as in Bordeaux and in many other cities, that the presence of the tram has benefited tourism, a lucrative sector for the cities.

On the other hand, we forget that, in the 1960s, the transition from tram to trolleybus was precipitated by frequent rail exits in winter and public opposition to its noisy running. The fact remains that public transportation saves taxpayers time and money, and also the State, given the increasing costs of infrastructure and road maintenance.

In addition, wifi on board a modern tram is very attractive, and its comfort is an incentive for users, especially those for whom Internet and cell phone costs have become prohibitive. Finally, jumping on board a tram does not risk putting you on the verge of death.
