The town of Saint-Germain-en-Coglès breaks the world record for the largest sausage pancake

The Côtes-d’Armor will not have been able to enjoy their victory for very long. Ille-et-Vilaine once again holds the record for the longest sausage pancake in the world. It took exceed 68 meters made by the municipality of Quessoy, Saturday, May 21. Until then, it was Mayenne which held the record with a sausage cake of 53 meters.

But a challenge like this requires preparation. More than 60 volunteers took turns cooking the sausages, installing the patties in the giant gutter provided for this purpose and folding the patties once the sausages were ready. More than 350 sausages and as many cakes were needed to complete the challenge. Didier, one of the volunteers, is touched by the mobilization of the municipality. “It was the butcher of Saint-Germain-en-Coglès who provided the sausages and the convenience store next door took care of the galettes.”

But the goal was not not just breaking the record. “All the funds from the giant sausage pancake will be donated to the association Pour les beaux yeux de Juliette. She is the daughter of one of the club members, who suffers from Bardet Biedl syndrome”, says Olivier Sourdin, president of the Saint-Germain-en-Coglès football club.
