As Irpin was heavily hit by Russian forces, residents flee a city in ruins on Tuesday, March 8.
Columns of civilians forced to flee their city are visible several hundred meters from Irpin (Ukraine), Tuesday, March 8. As the center of the city gets closer, the situation becomes more chaotic. Women and children try to flee because they have nothing left to eat. Elderly people are evacuated on stretchers.
At the level of the destroyed bridge which marks the entrance to the city, the crowd is even more impressive on the fifth day of the siege of Irpin by the Russian army. Explosions are heard. In the heart of the city, when volunteers move out to help still-stranded civilians, they must carefully avoid Russian-occupied areas. In a building, about fifty inhabitants live cut off from the world. They are unaware that volunteers are evacuating civilians.
