In a logic of energy sobriety that the city wants to be consistent with the efforts required of the French for this winter, the mayor of Taverny, Florence Portelli, announced in a press release the cancellation of the traditional evening of wishes to the populationscheduled for January 2023. “This ceremony which consumes a lot of energy has, somewhere, an indecent character in this period”, says Florence Portelli. Finally, the duty of a local elected official is also to lead by example.“In a video published on Youtube, the mayor of Taverny specifies that the wishes will be made by video and that she will meet the inhabitants.
Globally reduce energy consumption
The municipality will carry out a study next year on all the municipal heritage, in order to identify where energy savings can be made. An objective : reduce by 60% energy consumption by 2050.
Without waiting for the results, the municipality of Taverny has already undertaken, for example, to gradually replace the municipal vehicle fleet with electric vehicles and develop cycle paths to encourage cycling. To limit energy consumption, the temperature in city sports facilities will be lowered by 2°C and the experimentation of turning off street lights at night will be continued.
