the Toulouse Métropole Football Club, amateur but already big

The Toulouse Métropole Football Club is a “fake” youngster. Born in 2016, the biggest amateur club in Toulouse relies on its two ancestors Toulouse Fontaines and Toulouse Saint-Jo and will discover for the first time the joys of an eighth round of the Coupe de France.

More than 800 licensees at the club

This TMFC was born from the merger between two historic clubs of the pink city, Toulouse Fontaines and Toulouse Saint-Jo in June 2016. “It is the town hall of Toulouse who wanted to have a big amateur club representing the city behind the big professional club of TFC”, explains President Christian Ragout. Today, the Toulouse Métropole Football Club has passed the bar of 800 licensees. If he evolves in R1, the objective is to raise the first team to a national level in the years to come.

“We have stars in our eyes”

A new staff arrived last summer, led by Olivier Hernandez. And this adventure in the Coupe de France allows the club a great exposure. “Without wanting to, it happened every weekend. We were happy to play since we were arrested for a year and a half. There are so many emotions that we get caught up in the game”, rejoices the coach.

There were 400 people at the Cahuzac des Argoulets stadium during the 7th round against Brive. There should be 600 against Montauban this Saturday. “It never happened. Let it continue”, smiles President Christian Ragout.

On the sporting side, players and staff relish this rare moment in the career of an amateur: “At the beginning we set ourselves the goal of the 7th round to play a Ligue 2. When that does not come, we think of the 32nd to play a Ligue 1”, advance Fabrice Dubois the sports director who dreams of a 32nd final.

Captain Matthias Torrent is living his last footballing moments. So he savored this epic: “It’s unexpected to finish a career. We will try to make the most of it. _We will live the adventure to the full, it’s a dream. We have stars in our eyes._ The captain of this team, who is 41 years old, will hang up his crampons at the end of the season.
