An election which definitely caused a lot of talk… Remember, on January 22, Karolina Shiino was elected Miss Japan 2024. A choice which caused further controversy to the extent that the latter was not born in Japan, but in Ukraine, and that she had recently been naturalized (in 2022, Editor’s note).

Karoline Shiino apologizes
A first controversy now overshadowed by another… Just two weeks after winning the crown, Karolina Shiino announced that she was renouncing her title. The reason ? On January 31, 2024, a Japanese weekly revealed her affair with a married doctor and influencer…
The one who initially denied being aware that the man in question was a man in a relationship and father of a family later indicated that she was aware of the latter’s romantic and family situation. After apologizing to her audience, the 26-year-old young woman also explained that she had lied out of simple “fear”…
“I am sincerely sorry for the huge problems I have caused and for betraying those who supported me”she declared via a post on her social networks.
The title of Miss Japan will therefore remain vacant until the end of the year, specifies the BBC. A great first!
