This Tuesday morning, on the site Total Energies of the Normandy platform at Gonfreville l’Orcher in the industrial zone of Le Havre, the personnel were confined between 8:35 am and 9:45 am. Impossible to leave or enter the site by precautionary measures. The police confirm having been there but speak of a “non-event”. So is it a fire or an accident? No, because the sirens would have gone off. On the Total side, we are talking about a “security event” without giving further details. Is this an intrusion on site? According to the mayor of the commune Alban Bruneau, in reality there would have been a violent altercation between two employees, which entailed the protective measures, confinement for one hour. An individual was apprehended by the police.
Shortly before 10 a.m., everything would be back to normal, access to the site is now reopened. Employees even received an internal email explaining this event.
The Normandie Total Energies platform is the largest in France, a SEVESO classified site with more than 1,500 employees.
