After being absent from Quebec last year, the Toronto Raptors will be back this fall.
The Raptors will play at the Bell Centre in Montreal on October 6 in a preseason game against the Washington Wizards.
As part of the Canada Series, the Toronto club has only visited Vancouver in 2023, to face the Sacramento Kings.
The game at the Bell Centre involved Montrealer Luguentz Dort and his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates, facing the Detroit Pistons.
The NBA Canada Series began in the Quebec metropolis in 2012 and has since stopped in six cities across the country.
The match in October will be the eighth played in Montreal.
“We’ve always felt the love from our fans in Montreal and across Quebec,” Raptors general manager Bobby Webster said. “We’re excited to be back in the fall.”
Fans will be able to purchase tickets starting August 16.
The upcoming season will be the 30the Raptors in the NBA.
The team is led by Scottie Barnes, Ontario’s RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, with support from players such as Gradey Dick, Montreal’s Chris Boucher and British Columbia’s Kelly Olynyk.
Barnes and Quickley received new long-term deals earlier this month.
Barrett and Olynyk are set to represent Canada at the Paris Olympics — as are Dort and teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, among others.
The Wizards have in their ranks the French Bilal Coulibaly and Alex Sarr, the second choice in the NBA draft in 2024.
Their star players are Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole.
Coulibaly will be part of the Blues in the City of Light, alongside Victor Wembanyama in particular.
“We’re looking forward to spending time in a new community and learning about Montreal,” Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said.
“We believe that during this trip, our players and staff will be able to both add to their knowledge and build relationships,” he added.
