Orange vigilance is activated Monday, January 31 in the Var until 10 p.m. with gusts of wind that can reach 130 km / h. This storm caused a distressing spectacle in Marseille. Thousands of tons of waste threaten to scatter after 13 days of garbage collectors’ strike.

In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), no seagulls on the horizon, but rather plastic bags flying away. Monday, January 31, is the 13th day of the garbage collectors’ strike. The city has already accumulated between 3,000 and 4,000 tons of waste that litters the sidewalks. This is the great despair of the residents. “There is the sea right next to it. It will still end up in the water and then afterwards, everything is polluted”said one of them.

Rain and storms are the obsession of the Marseillais. Last October, bad weather had already affected marine biodiversity, a garbage collectors’ strike was also underway at that time. The metropolis of Aix-Marseille has still not found a way out of the conflict. Nearly 27,000 people have signed a petition to stop the movement.
