The Pierre Mendes-France center at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, known as Tolbiac, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, has been closed since 1:30 p.m. Tuesday April 30 due to the mobilization of students in favor of Gaza, Franceinfo learned.

According to the university, the mobilization began around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. “We let the classes end and then we closed the center around 1:30 p.m. for security reasons”she specifies.

The Palestine Committee of Paris 1 explains to franceinfo that “the Tolbiac center was blocked in response to the repression of students mobilized for Palestine” this Monday. The Palestine Committee also ensures that “the university locked the students on campus” and “more than a thousand people are confined indoors”.

The university, for its part, “strongly denies” having locked the students within the campus and on the contrary calls on them to “leave the premises”. This Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., the last students who occupied the campus left the premises, say the university presidency.
