In a game that never seemed to end, Acadie-Bathurst Titan forward Riley Kidney ended Game 4 of the series against the Halifax Mooseheads with the winner in the third period of overtime, Wednesday evening at the Scotiabank Centre.
This constant duel, which lasted 116 minutes, was won 4 to 3 by the Titan. It’s a heartbreaking verdict for goaltender Mathis Rousseau, who was very impressive, blocking 68 of the 72 shots he faced.
Kidney broke the tie with a shot that deflected off Rousseau’s mitt before landing in the net. The hope of the Montreal Canadiens thus saved the Titan from being eliminated for a second game in a row.
Cole Huckins, Hendrix Lapierre and Cole Larkin also scored for the visitors. Goaltender Jan Bednar gave up three times on 46 shots, being beaten by Mathieu Cataford (twice) and Markus Vidicek.
The Titan and Mooseheads have won both of their road games in this series. It will end Thursday evening in Bathurst with the presentation of the fifth and final duel.
