They have more than 600,000 euros to repay… and need you! For a few days and the release of the documentary The Tinder Scammer, Pernilla, Cecilie and Ayleen Charlotte are under fire from the media around the world. The three young women are indeed the victims of the famous “Tinder scammer”, Simon Leviev (or Shimon Hayut) who was the subject of a very popular documentary on Netflix.
The man, originally from Israel, called himself Simon and passed for the boss of a diamond company. After finding his victims on the dating app, he made them live a high life. Private jet, caviar and champagne… Nothing was spared them! But quickly, he made them understand that he needed money to get out of various shady deals… and ended up disappearing with their money. Some of the young women have borrowed nearly $200,000!
spoiler : they have understood the deception and are now ruined but are obliged to continue repaying their bank loans! The man was however found and sentenced to prison in his country of origin, but the young women did not receive any compensation. They therefore decided to set up a kitty, taking advantage of the wave of support received.
“The past few days have been a whirlwind, and the three of us (Ayleen, Pernilla and Cecilie) have been completely shocked and overwhelmed by the outpouring of compassion and support from everyone. Pure love is more than we expected, and we all appreciate you so much“. The three women, who come from the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway also explained that they just want “get their lives back“.
“After careful consideration and many discussions, we have decided to launch this GoFundMe fundraiser. So many people have contacted us asking if we have one when it hadn’t occurred to us to do one before. […] We don’t want more people getting scammed. We realize there are thousands of other good causes to donate to and we will be forever grateful if you choose to donate to this one.“
After a day of launch, they have raised nearly $17,000 so far, after superb generosity from Internet users. But the sum is still low compared to the 600,000 hoped for by the three victims! The popularity of the docu growing, the kitty should quickly fill up.
