“Time to Love”, in theaters this Wednesday, November 29, tells the story of two individuals in the post-war period: she, shorn in 47, him, homosexual. Two destinies linked by lies.

Friends in life and partners on screen, actors Anaïs Demoustier and Vincent Lacoste attended the premiere of their new film in Paris, Time to love. The fresco traces the life of an unlikely couple over 20 years. “These are people who learn to love each other, and who will save each other a little, and invent their own form of love, without necessarily sharing the same sexuality”says Vincent Lacoste.

The weight of secrecy

The weight of secrecy is at the heart of the film. Madeleine had a child with a German soldier. Shame prevents him from admitting it to his son. Like many women at the liberation, she was shorn and marked with a swastika, a victim of popular vindictiveness. The director, Katell Quillévéré, says she was inspired by the story of her own grandmother.
