This is the first and perhaps only debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in this exceptional American presidential campaign, marked by the withdrawal of Joe Biden. The two presidential candidates will face off on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, on ABC, starting at 3 a.m. French time.

On this occasion, we look back at the three highlights of Donald Trump’s previous debates.

When Donald Trump Threatened Hillary Clinton With Jail

October 9, 2016. Second debate against Hillary Clinton. A few days after the video where he boasts about grabbing women by their genitals, Donald Trump hits back. He accuses the Democratic candidate’s husband, Bill Clinton, of having abused women and he threatens his opponent to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate his private emails. She then congratulates herself that someone like Donald Trump is not in charge of the laws of the country. He replies that she would be in prison today.

When Joe Biden asks Donald Trump to “shut up”

Four years later, on September 30, 2020, Donald Trump is this time facing Joe Biden for the first debate of the campaign. The Republican candidate keeps interrupting his Democratic counterpart, and Joe Biden ends up losing patience. Will you shut up, man?”he says to Donald Trump.

“I really don’t know what he said”: when Donald Trump responds to a struggling Joe Biden

On June 27, the first (and only) debate was held between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. The Democratic president got lost in his endless sentences and hesitations. The Republican candidate summed it up: “I don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence, I don’t think he does either.”.

This debate marks the beginning of a series of withdrawals around the candidacy of Joe Biden, who will end up, three weeks later, throwing in the towel. He is replaced by his vice president, Kamala Harris, who will surely focus on Tuesday evening to remind Donald Trump that he continues to deny his defeat in the 2020 election.
