The thaw sets in for spring break

Even if winter has not said its last word, the extreme cold seems to be behind us with the mild weather setting in in time for spring break and outdoor activities.

Monday’s day is under better weather auspices with generous sunshine over most of the province, while temperatures will still be negative, pending the rise of the mercury on Tuesday.

Temperatures will fluctuate between -6 degrees and -4 degrees in western Quebec, in the St. Lawrence River valley, in Estrie and Beauce, as well as in Bas-Saint-Laurent, according to Environment Canada, which forecasts more than sun than clouds for these sectors.

The thaw expected for Tuesday will be accompanied by a blanket of snow that will affect practically the entire province, from Abitibi to Saguenay and from Montreal to the North Shore.

We can expect less than ten centimeters of accumulations on the ground in southwestern Quebec, especially in Montreal where it will be 2 degrees, and possibly more in the areas a little further north, but the temperatures will be comfortable.

The weather will also be snowy on Tuesday in several areas of eastern Quebec, such as Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie, where the cold will be in order before the mercury rises for the rest of the week.
