The finance bill for 2024 must now be examined by the Senate, starting November 23. The deputies rejected, Thursday, November 9 at the end of the evening, in an almost deserted hemicycle, the motion of censure tabled by La France insoumise (LFI) after the government’s use of 49.3 on the expenditure part of the 2024 budget.

This motion received only 167 votes, far from the 289 votes required for obstruct the text and bring down the government. Only 78 deputies had signed the motion, the LFI group and a handful of PCF deputies, a sign of the weariness of the deputies in the face of the government’s litany of 49.3, such as motions of censure tabled by rebellious France.

This motion of censure, the 24th against Elisabeth Borne since her arrival at Matignon, follows the use by the Prime Minister for the sixteenth time of 49.3, which put an end to the debates on the allocation of state expenditure.
