Femicide: the chilling testimony of a victim

His name could have been included on the long list of victims of femicide. On October 7, 2020, Alicia, 22, was the victim of an attempted femicide by her ex-partner, who shot her twice. “He waited until I looked at him to shoot a second time,” the young woman remembers for France 2. His attacker then tried to slit his throat.
She will then manage to contact a friend, who will tell her that she “heard him die”. Alicia was then in a coma, before undergoing several operations in hospital. She spent time in a wheelchair due to a bullet wound in her spine, before learning to be independent again.
“I had to manage, I felt like a baby”she said. “I survived, so I decided to live and move forward. It’s a trauma but I’m not going to deprive myself of living”she testifies. Her ex-companion was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
