the terrible confession of his former sidekick, Nathalie Simon

Like most of the family France Televisions, Nathalie Simon

could not hide his sadness. Indeed, the ex-windsurfer who became a presenter, wanted to pay tribute to the memory of Sylvain Augier

the emblematic host of The Treasure Map

And Do not dreamwho passed away at the age of 68 as we learned Free Midday this Tuesday March 19, 2024.

The former sportswoman and the presenter who suffered from bipolarity since the age of 35 actually collaborated on France 3 for the show For what ? How ? And Nathalie Simon visibly keeps only “happy memories” in his company.

Nathalie Simon saddened by the disappearance of Sylvain Augier

“I learned with great sadness of the disappearance of Sylvain Augier. We had animated together “why? how?” these are only happy memories. Sylvain was our always joking Tintin reporter. The treasure map family is very sad tonight”has she
written on his account

formerly Twitter, a few minutes after the announcement of the death of Sylvain Augier.

The emblematic host of France Televisions in the 1990s died over the weekend in Lecques, near Sommières, where he had settled with his wife Carol. At the age of 35, when he returned to France after covering the Route du Rhum in 1990, he learned he had bipolar disorder. While he is in his hotel room in Brest, Sylvain Augier feels severe abdominal pain. He then thinks of a heart attack but the doctors give him a diagnosis that he does not expect: he has bipolar disorder.

The host hid his illness for a long time

He hid his illness for a long time from his collaborators and during the filming that followed. “I hid. I didn’t want to show my colleagues and the public that I was suffering. I remember, I curled up in a ball in the back of a car so that no one would recognize me before going to host a TV show, and I did that for years”he confided, for example, on the set of Buzz TV from Figaro.

This disorder also led him to have suicidal thoughts. Like in 2000, when he thought about throwing himself under a TGV that was coming at 160 km/h. It was ultimately his wife Carol and their two children Manon and Hadrien who pulled him out of the way at the last moment. It was finally following a malaise that Sylvain Augier would have passed away this Saturday March 16, 2024.
