The funeral of Matisse, a 15-year-old teenager stabbed on April 27, took place in Châteauroux, in Indre, on Tuesday May 7.
Tuesday May 7, young people from the football club form a guard of honor while Matisse’s coffin enters the Châteauroux stadium (Indre). In the stands, 2,000 people gathered to pay their last respects to the teenager stabbed on April 27. Matisse’s parents speak. “Fly away my angel”said his mother. “When I get better, when my strength returns, I will talk about you, about who you were”adds the teenager’s father.
Another ceremony in family privacy
Family, friends and teachers take turns at the microphone. “I understood quite recently that we cannot decently reduce you to the omnipotence of blue-white-red (…) because at the Etoile club, it does not matter the color of the flag, it does not matter the skin color”, says Malika, Matisse’s French teacher. After an hour of ceremony, the coffin leaves the stadium for a private family funeral.
