The Techno Parade, a festive showcase for electronic music, will make its big comeback on September 24, 2022 in the streets of Paris, after two successive cancellations due to Covid-19, the organizing association Technopol announced to AFP on Friday June 24. The last edition, dedicated to Steve Maia Caniço and which dates back to September 2019, brought together more than 200,000 people behind a dozen colorful floats and their sound systems, on a four-kilometre route between the Louvre and Place d’Italie, with for motto “Nothing stops a people who dance!”.

“The date of September 24 has been set but the 2022 route has not yet been finalized with the police headquarters”, explained Tommy Vaudecrane, president of Technopol, the association for the defense of electronic cultures. About ten floats are expected, representing the main currents of techno: house, trance, drum’n’bass…

Among the guests of honor who will be mixing on the course, the Ukrainian DJ Xenia who performed in the courtyard of the Elysée on the occasion of the Fête de la Musique. “This 24th Techno Parade will once again be demanding. Electronic music is always confronted with received ideas. Events are still difficult to organize. Reluctance and concerns (which) are not justified when this musical current is the second after hip hop with young people”, added Tommy Vaudecrane. Created in 1998 with the support of former Minister of Culture Jack Lang, on the model of Berlin’s “Love Parade”, the Techno Parade claims at each edition “access to a freer party”.
