The team of the film “Camping” mourns the destruction by the flames of the “Flots Bleus” in Gironde

“Today Patrick is crying”, tweeted the actor Franck Dubosc who plays Patrick Chirac, a vacationer in eternal blue swimming trunks, in the film Camping (2006). The mythical setting of the saga in three opuses – the Flots Bleus campsite – was destroyed on Monday July 18 by the fires which ravaged the Gironde.

Located at the foot of the Dune du Pilat, the establishment created in 1966, had to evacuate its occupants on July 13, at the same time as four other surrounding campsites. According to a newspaper report The Dispatch obtained from the prefect of Gironde, these holiday resorts were 90% destroyed by the flames.

In total, 19,300 hectares of forest have gone up in smoke, including 6,500 hectares in La Teste-de-Buch, near Arcachon, and 12,800 in the Landiras sector, in the south of the department, according to a last assessment Tuesday morning of the prefecture.

Fabien Onteniente, director of the three comedies, expressed his sadness on Monday evening on RTL: he said to himself “devastated by this tragedy”. Himself present in Biscarosse in the company of Franck Dubosc observed in despair thick black smoke in the direction of the Flots Bleus. “We were praying that our campsite would not be affected but last night the tide turned.”
