Two police officers were shot and injured on the evening of Thursday, May 9 in the police station in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. The suspect is a 31-year-old man who attacked a 73-year-old woman in the neighborhood.
Two police officers were rushed to hospital, seriously injured by gunfire in the very premises of the 13th arrondissement of Paris, Thursday May 9. It was 10:30 p.m. when a suspect managed to seize a civil servant’s service weapon. “The individual had to undergo screening. He was uncuffed by one of the colleagues. At that point, he jumped on him, managed to take his gun and shot him”relates Reda Belhaj, spokesperson for the Unité SGP Police-Île-de-France union.
A French man with no criminal record
A little earlier, the suspect had been arrested a few streets from the police station. He locked himself in the apartment of a septuagenarian before violently attacking her with a box cutter. She is alive. The suspect is 31 years old, of French nationality and with no criminal record. Neighbors had seen him wandering around the building. The two police officers are still hospitalized, one of them is in critical condition. The alleged attacker, victim of return fire, is hospitalized in stable condition. Three investigations were opened to determine the exact circumstances of these shootings.
