The man suspected of having injured four people with a knife in the metro in Lyon at the end of May was indicted for attempted murder and placed in pre-trial detention, the Lyon prosecutor’s office announced on Friday June 7.

This 27-year-old Moroccan was quickly arrested by the police after the attack on May 26, towards the Jean-Jaurès metro station, in the 7th arrondissement of the city. He had been transferred to a psychiatric ward at the end of his police custody. He had already been the subject of several hospitalizations in the past due to psychiatric disorders.

Unknown to the police, he “was subject to a fairly old OQTF”issued by the prefecture of Vienne in 2022, said the prefect of Rhône, Fabienne Buccio. He did not make a specific claim and did not have a dispute with a traveler.
