The man suspected of having killed his ex-wife on Friday in Epinay-sur-Seine (Seine-Saint-Denis) “globally recognizes the facts”, reports the Bobigny parquet, Sunday, November 28. He explained that he had come to wait for the victim “to discuss and retrieve documents and personal effects”, despite the contact ban imposed by the courts in July.

The suspect claims to have come “without intention of homicide”, but had nevertheless bought a knife before going to his ex-wife’s house. His police custody was extended on Saturday evening and will end on Sunday evening.

The man, already convicted of violence and just released from prison, will be presented to the judicial court of Bobigny for an opening of information of the count of “murder by a person being or having been the spouse”. The main penalty is life imprisonment.

According to a recent assessment by the Ministry of the Interior, 146 women were victims of conjugal feminicides, that is to say killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in 2019, and 102 in 2020. On Facebook, the collective Feminicides by companion or ex estimates according to its own count that this feminicide is the 104th in France since the beginning of the year.
