The state of health of Michael Schumacher continues to raise many questions. On December 29, 2013, the seven-time Formula 1 champion suffered a serious accident in Méribel. During a stay in the mountains in the French Alps, the German athlete had a terrible fall while he was off-piste. Since then, the star’s family has been working to ensure that no information leaks about him, in particular by filtering the people who can come and visit him at his home in Switzerland. His wife Corinna and his children Gina Maria and Mick are also very discreet and rarely speak in the media to talk about the Red Baron, who we know all the same has been the victim of considerable neurological damage and is suffering from serious sequelae.
“It was so over the top”
Recently, a surprising personality spoke about Michael Schumacher. The former Minister of Health Olivier Véran indeed granted an interview to our colleagues from Closer on the occasion of the release of his first book entitled Beyond the waves. The current Government Spokesperson remembered this day of December 29, 2013; and for good reason, he was at the time a neurologist at the Grenoble University Hospital, the very place where Michael Schumacher was transported after his terrible fall. “It was so overdone. There is even a foreign journalist who disguised himself as a priest to enter his room“, remembered Olivier Véran. The former doctor was marked by all the excitement around this patient not quite like the others. “Seeing the extent of his hospitalization, I asked my neurology department not to communicate anything to me on his medical file”, he confided.
