The UFC-que-Choisir association denounces fee overruns among specialist doctors. From one department to another, the prices of consultations vary from double to double, sometimes more.
One in two specialist doctors charge excess fees. Consultations vary from one to two, depending on the department. In Paris, prices are soaring. “The ophthalmologist is 150 euros, and the gynecologist, 120 euros”, confides a patient. Prices are also very high on the Côte d’Azur. In Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes), the consultation with Dr. Patrick Delasalle, gastroenterologist, is charged 65 euros in sector 1 in a clinic, instead of 30 euros.
Rents too expensive?
“You just have to live in these areas, in Paris or the Alpes-Maritimes, where the square meter is very expensive. I won’t tell you the price of renting the premises where I work…”, argues Patrick Delasalle. Very often, patients have no choice, as specialists are rare. With this surge in prices, the most modest people could forgo essential care. The UFC-que-Choisir association believes that new doctors should be prohibited from accessing free sector 2 fees.
