Day 1: Scotland – Wales summary (2024)
.
(France TV)
For this first day of the women’s tournament, the Scots won a historic victory by winning on Welsh soil for the first time in 20 years.
Third and fourth in the 2023 Six Nations Tournament, Wales and Scotland met for the first day of this 2024 edition. The Welsh lost on Saturday March 23 in Cardiff, against a team from Scotland to the end. The final score: 18-20. Despite two tries scored on each side, the Welsh failed to convert their last try, awarded after video refereeing, in the last minutes of the match.
Despite a clear Scottish domination at half-time (6-10), the match remained contested, to the point that the Welsh were able to hope to win, thanks to a try scored in the 59th minute by Sisilia Tuipulotu and their commitment to the rucks. But the Scots were more convincing offensively, to secure their first victory on Welsh soil for 20 years in the Tournament. Ioan Cunningham’s players will be the opponents of the French next Saturday, who have also started their Tournament well.
