The Red and Black never wavered on Friday as they defeated the UBB (59-3) and won their 23rd French championship title.
The final was cut short. Never worried, Stade Toulouse played against Union Bordeaux-Bègles (59-3) in the Top 14 final, Friday June 28 at the Vélodrome stadium in Marseille. Never has a team won the final of the French championship by such a large score. Captain Antoine Dupont twice (6th, 23rd) and Peato Mauvaka (20th) had set the tone from the start of the first period, ending with a clear advantage (22-3).
While the UBB players finally put up a resistance worthy of their season at the start of the second half, the Red and Blacks annihilated the suspense in ten minutes, thanks to successive tries from Thomas Ramos (64th), Julien Marchand (68th), Blair Kinghorn (70th) and Thomas Ramos again (74th), before Peato Mauvaka (79th) and Ange Capuozzo (80+2nd) concluded the humiliation. After its much more closely fought triumph in the Champions Cup final against Leinster (31-22), Stade Toulousain achieved the third European Cup-Top 14 double in its history, just three years after the last one.
