The Blues started the competition perfectly, winning by a wide margin against the Irish on Saturday.
A good warm-up lap. Against Ireland, which they had swept aside 53-3 last year, the Blues successfully entered the Six Nations Tournament (38-17), Saturday March 23 at the Stade Marie-Marvingt, in Le Mans. Pauline Bourdon started the match perfectly with a first try after only three minutes, but the Blues then increased their blunders, failing to finish off their opportunities against an Irish XV reinforced by several rugby sevens players.
The second flash came from the scrum half again, with a lovely chistera on the edge of a ruck to serve winger Marine Ménager, bringing the score to 17-3 at the break. In the second half, the French rolled out to take the lead, despite the Irish still valiant in defense, and authors of two tries. Ireland dreams of direct qualification for the next World Cup – to do so it will have to finish ahead of Wales, Scotland and Italy -, while France faces Scotland on Saturday March 30 (3:15 p.m. live on France 2 and france.tv).
