The yellow jersey won at the top of the Saint-Lary-Soulan resort on Saturday, for the first Pyrenean stage of this 2024 edition.
The champion’s pride. Visibly injured after being surprisingly dominated in the sprint by Jonas Vingegaard at Lioran, Tadej Pogacar took his revenge on Saturday 13 July by winning solo at the top of Pla d’Adet on the 14th stage. By beating Jonas Vingegaard by 39″ and Remco Evenepoel by 1’10”, the Slovenian strengthened his yellow jersey one week before the final finish in Nice.
From the Tourmalet, “Pogi” and his UAE Team Emirates never left more than four minutes to the breakaway. His teammates having ridden all day, the general leader sent Adam Yates as a scout on the last climb, to use it as a relay and definitively drop his rivals. In the standings, he has a lead of 1’57” over the Dane of Visma-Lease a Bike, and 2’22” over the Belgian of Soudal Quick-Step before a new highly anticipated stage on Sunday, towards the Plateau de Beille.
