Day 2: England v Wales recap

. – (.)

Trailing for almost an hour, the XV de la Rose came out at the last minute (16-14) against the Welsh on Saturday at Twickenham.

A forceps victory. Trailing ten minutes from time, England overthrew Wales to win (16-14), Saturday February 10 at Twickenham. A penalty in front of the poles of George Ford (72nd) was enough for the English, finally realistic after having kept the Welsh under pressure without success. They had already returned to the game with two tries from Ben Earl (20th) and Fraser Dingwall (63rd), but Ford’s failures at the foot (including an incredible miss on the first conversion) left them behind their opponents.

Dominant in the first act, the Welsh scored their two tries, first on a carried ball, concluded by a penalty try (17th) then by Alex Mann (38th). But on arrival, despite two numerical superiorities (yellow cards for Chessum 11th then for Roots 17th), they lost again by a very small margin, a week after their frustrating defeat (26-27) against Scotland at Cardiff.
