(Montreal) After experiencing an abnormally high number of failures in the fall of 2022, then in the spring of 2023, the success rates for the admission exam for nurses have skyrocketed. They went from 63% in September 2023 to 92% for the exam held on March 26.
Clinical settings will thus be able to count on 1,702 nurses from the next generation of nurses.
Remember that the results of the admission exam of the Order of Nurses of Quebec (OIIQ) had dropped drastically in September 2022 to reach a success rate of 51.4%. In March 2022, they were still very low with a rate of 53.3%.
In 2023, the OIIQ implemented administrative measures which had the effect of increasing the success rate to 63% for September 2023.
The OIIQ told The Canadian Press that it would not grant an interview on the exam results revealed Wednesday. In a press release, he comments that “the strategies deployed for the success of the examination and the sustained collaboration with the various partners have borne fruit”.
The Order has indicated that it is “in a good position” to cease applying the relaxation measures which have been in force since January 2023. This includes the number of tests and regulatory provisions in relation to the time limit for success. of the exam.
Candidates who wish to do so will, however, continue to benefit from support measures to help prepare for the exam.
Candidates who have still not passed the professional exam will have to appear at the next exam session in September 2024.
The OIIQ maintains that work to improve the examination process will continue.
