The documentary film on peasant life in France, “Paysans ardéchois”, is an absolute hit in the cinemas of the Ardèche. For twenty years, the filmmaker behind it followed the activity of four small farms.

At each of the screenings, spectators rush in front of the cinema in Usson-en-Forez (Loire) at the risk of finding sold-out counters. It’s already the fifth broadcast in the village, and the cinema is doing Again room combIe. Ardèche peasants is a documentary that chronicles the lives of farmers, directed by Bernard peyrol.

Already 25,000 entries

It is a film to be discovered, which one comes to consult either out of curiosity or nostalgia. “It was the rural life before”specifies a riverside. “I did for a few years. That reminds me of the good memories”continues another resident. The director’s objective was to preserve a memory of peasant life. “When I shot my first images in 2013, I did not intend to make a film, but above all to archive images”notes Bernlate peyrol. Since its release on the screens last January, the film has made 25,000 admissions, mainly in the countryside.
