Simon Gauthier leaves behind “his poetry, the magic of his words and his lamist prowess”, wrote his friend Louise Nepveu on Facebook.

Originally from Sept-Îles, Simon Gauthier studied animation and cultural research at the University of Quebec in Montreal before becoming a professional storyteller in 1998.

In 2000, he founded a storytelling festival in Tadoussac, Conteurs en rafale, where he was responsible for the organization and artistic direction until 2004.

During his career, Simon Gauthier has told stories in Quebec, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Burkina Faso, Tunisia and Morocco.

He was named North Shore Author of the Year at the 2002 North Shore Book Fair and recipient of the title of North Shore Ambassador by Les Grands Prix du tourisme québécois 2001.
