Christèle Crozier is a behavioral veterinarian and she listened carefully to the testimony of the couple who came to consult her about a dog that we will call Gus. A 3-year-old French bulldog who one evening bit his mistress.
Stupor and desolation! Yet the animal was very well treated. Let’s take a closer look at how humans behaved with Gus.
- Did he want to go out? We took it out immediately whatever the time.
- The food was at will and we changed the contents of his bowl if he did not like it.
- The couch ? He had annexed the main sofa, relegating the humans to the armchairs.
- If there were guests? He sometimes pissed on bags and their feet…
What did the vet do?
I simply listed everything that this couple told me about their life together with their dog. And I invited them to reflect.
Gus had simply become the master and tyrant of this house, a role for which he was not destined and which worried him terribly. He therefore brought answers, at random.
The gentleman said at the end of the interview:
Gus, things are gonna change.
And they have changed, everyone has taken their rightful place, Gus no longer has to manage the whole house but just his part of a cuddly and friendly bulldog.
Everyone is doing much better.
Thanks to Christèle Crozier for this testimony.
