The Station Service shop closes its doors

The Station Service store, which was one of the pioneers in Quebec in terms of clothing rentals, is closing its doors. Its owner, Raphaëlle Bonin, made the announcement on social media on Wednesday.

“The pandemic swept our way like a huge wave,” she wrote. Initially it was difficult, but navigable. We adapted and tried to participate in the recovery. But, the more the months progressed, the more the company ran out of steam and became more fragile. The more the wave became unbearable. So I had to make the hardest decision I’ve had to make in my life, which is to end our operations, right now. The physical space as well as the online store are now closed.

Created in 2017 as a rental service focusing on the creations of local designers, Station Service opened its first store a year later, in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough. Having integrated the sale of clothing and accessories, always local, into its offer, the company had moved into a space of 3,350 sq.^⁠2 on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in April 2021. This new address included a section reserved for styling and the organization of events, a section that had been put on hold with the pandemic, as had the rental service.

At the end of January, while the economic recovery was long overdue, Station Service expressed its desire to share its space. An initiative that will unfortunately not be enough to ensure its future.
