The Orpea group, the world leader in nursing homes, will be targeted by a complaint from the French state, which reserves the right to request the return of public grants. A complaint which does not mention the mistreatment suffered by the residents, and which is therefore controversial.

After six weeks of investigation, the report on the Orpea group delivered its first conclusions. A statement from the Ministry of Health reports several serious malfunctions, such as the nutritional deficiency of residents, but also an irregularity in the use of public funds. The State filed a complaint against the group and undertook to request the reimbursement of public grants.

If it turns out that these endowments were not used for these purposes [sanitaires]but on the contrary for retributions, of course, we will sanction and we will recover these public endowments to the penny“, assures Brigitte Bourguignon, Minister Delegate in charge of the autonomy of the elderly. For Lionel Sajovic, whose father died in Ehpad at the age of 93, “Madam Minister did not understand the root of the problem, we are in a problem of mistreatment“.
